The Big Bend Community Club apparently was founded June 7, 1950 (according to the sign, above), but it’s possible that the current site (5.9 acres) was not acquired until early the next year, as Deed Document Date is February 7, 1951. It’s likely that the current Community Center was built in 1950 or 1951, it would seem.

Photo (1980) & Comments (2023) From Victoria Green: The 1st Annual Fireman’s Ball in 1980, at the the Big Bend Community Club. David Hookjaw Green, Rod Harvey, and Jerry Benes at the Big Bend Community Club in 1980… They played mainly rock and roll. Not a formal band; just got together for local gatherings. Sadly the guitar player on the right passed away over 3 years ago. He was my sister Carol’s husband, Jerry Benes.

Licensed legal beer sales happened at a Benefit Fund-Raising and Awareness-Raising event for the BBCLT (Big Bend Community Land Trust)… This might have been a “first”!
Community Elders who never retire from volunteering to make Big Bend a better place!
After the pandemic abd being closed for more than two years, the community volunteers started the process of reregistering, reopening, and reorganizing to make the BBCC better than ever!
