The BBCC is Getting Remodeled!<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The BBCC is getting remodeled!<\/strong> It will have a much better entrance and improvements in the kitchen and restrooms! BBCC received a $25,000 grant <\/strong>to start the remodeling project. The new front porch<\/strong> (12′ x 28′ with ramp) is the first phase of the new design. It will be the new entrance <\/strong>on the helipad side. The kitchen will be the next work project after the new entrance is done.<\/p>\n\n\n

Here are some of the plans<\/strong> (3d renderings of the new covered porch roof structure) made by Nick Crylen (Nittihaus), who used to live right across from the BBCC, where he had a line-of-sight view of this east side of the building (facing helipad), where this new entrance is going!<\/p>\n\n\n

This new entrance<\/strong> will be one of the first and only major structural improvements in the aging building, which was apparently built in 1950. It will be wheelchair friendly<\/strong> and built to meet the Shasta County building codes. And the new porch can have seating too, for some good old-fashioned porch relaxing.<\/p>\n\n\n

The remodel is being done by some talented local community member builders. This remodel has been proposed as early as 2011, and that was probably not the first time, but now it’s actually happening! The changes will be a great improvement over existing facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n

The pictures and plans below are from this web site about 15 years ago<\/strong> (and this description): “Some day, we would love to remodel the beloved Big Bend Community Center!” <\/strong><\/em>And below are the designs from that era (2011). The new 2026 remodel plans are essentially the same: a new entrance which will make the improved kitchen no longer a walk-through entrance, as the current situation is like a hallway through the kitchen…”

This BBCC remodeling idea has stayed alive for over 15 years (probably much longer)! This 3-D Rendering from Nittihaus was made in 2011 and… Never underestimate the power of a positive vision!<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Below is a floor plan idea submitted (back in 2011)<\/strong><\/strong> for a possible future BBCC renovation.  The plan re-orients the entrance to the East side of the building, adding a covered porch entry, and enlarges the kitchen, just like the 2026 plan!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
