During rental events and fundraiser events for the Big Bend Community Center, the parking area gets used a lot for many fun things!<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Big Bend Community Center (formerly the Big Bend Community Club) recently got a new start in 2024! The BBCC had been closed for several years and needed to be reactivated by a group of dedicated local volunteers. Several community member volunteers have stepped forward to work on the re-start, which involved a new Board of Directors, the re-creation of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, facility maintenance and repairs, and enlisting more volunteers to get back up & running. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please help when you can.<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

YOUR\u00a0Big Bend Community Center<\/strong>\u00a0is a community resource, an important part of Big Bend history, and a great place to gather… And its existence is due to the generous VOLUNTEER work of a handful community members. \u00a0YOUR HELP IS NEEDED to keep the BBCC alive and thriving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Volunteers are needed year-round for the following important work:
<\/strong>\u2022Big Bend Residents:<\/strong> Consider the BBCC to be partly yours & get involved!
\u2022Driving on Hot Springs Road:<\/strong> Be part of our security presence<\/strong> and keep an eye out for any suspicious behavior, including unauthorized vehicles or people at the BBCC.

We need all kinds of volunteers!<\/strong> The BBCC is working on reactivating after being closed for a few years, and things are happening!\u00a0 Here are ways you could help:<\/strong>
\u2022Attend Meetings<\/em><\/strong> and participate in meetings
\u2022Rent the Center<\/em><\/strong> to host your events there! (very reasonable rates)\u00a0
\u2022Host an event or class that is free and open to the public<\/em><\/strong>, and rental fees are waived!
\u2022Vote<\/em><\/strong> in the Board of Directors Elections
\u2022Serve on the Board <\/em><\/strong>of Directors as President
\u2022Serve on the Board<\/em><\/strong> of Directors as Vice President
\u2022Serve on the Board<\/em><\/strong> of Directors as Treasurer
\u2022Serve on the Board<\/em><\/strong> of Directors as Secretary
\u2022Get on the Lawn Care Team<\/em><\/strong> schedule for mowing and\/or watering
\u2022Organize and\/or Attend Work Party Days<\/em><\/strong> to clean, repair, and improve the BBCC
\u2022Donate time, money, and\/or materials <\/em><\/strong>to help with BBCC remodel, repairs, and maintenance
\u2022Mop<\/em><\/strong> the Floor
\u2022Deep-Clean the bathrooms<\/em><\/strong>
\u2022Deep-Clean the kitchen<\/em><\/strong>
\u2022Pick up trash<\/em><\/strong> in Parking Areas (bottle caps, cigarette butts, and bits of glass)
\u2022Take trash & recycling<\/em><\/strong>. The BBCC does not have curbside pick-up service, so we depend on folks to remove the trash & recycling.
\u2022Donate firewood<\/em><\/strong> to the BBCC (deliver to back porch wood pile)
\u2022Get involved<\/em><\/strong> and show you care!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally called the “Big Bend Community Club”, a group of locals conceived and built the BBCC in 1950, so the building needs continual maintenance, care, and repairs.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
